#81. FeltSHOCK, The Scale Bar, Feltham. 4.11.16.
(Ph)right Night… Phantoms (& phriends) at FeltSHOCK.
Remember, remember the 4th of November. What a top night. 6 great live bands, beers, burgers and bonus fireworks! Fantastic.
After looking ominous all day the rain finally stopped just in time for the big party crowd to enjoy the spectacular firework display and live music sandwiched either side of the pyrotechnics.
First to entertain were the FU’s who get better with every performance. Also amusing to see one of the band sporting a flying V ukulele! Rock!
Next up were Op Acoustic, obviously the best band of the evening being the only ones to get paid for their services (thanks to one over appreciative audience member chucking 10p at them during the gig)! It all adds up! Making their first appearance in front of the Feltham crowd, the boys started off slow but soon ramped things up, belting out their now expected harmonious acoustic renditions of popular covers to the appreciative masses.
Then after a dazzling interlude with the crowds hot chocolate and burger levels topped up it was all back to the Scale Bar for Chopper Squad to resume the festivities. Highlight of their set was the all too brief injection of a bit of American glamour to the lineup, not only improving their visual appeal but instantaneously slashing the bands average age by years.
Fourth band of the night was Fused who delivered an explosive set (quite literally when the drum kit fell apart under the onslaught)!
With that repaired the Phantoms then took to the stage for a hair raising performance that soon had the dancefloor packed with a great mix of Halloween themed covers & sure fire crowd pleasers. Who would have thought that so many people were closet Backstreet Boys fans?!
All that was then left was for Orangutan Thumb to crank things up & get the late night hard core party goers moshing long into the night, whilst the majority of the Phantoms retired to the beer tent to help finish off the beer & sniff the delicious burgery aroma of the girls who had been running the BBQ all evening.
Massive thanks to all who helped make this brilliant event possible & for the crowd that stayed around to support the live music.
The Phantoms were: Mark Gibson (lead
vocals & keys), Kevin Rogers (guitar), Jason Biggs (guitar & vocals),
Jon Novice (bass & vocals) & Alun Westoll (drums
