#90. Feltstock Festival 2018, Feltham. 8.6.18.

The sun shone on the Phantoms (& friends) at the return to Felthams finest Summer music festival, Feltstock 2018. This time round the Phantoms were joined on stage by fellow stable mates, Chopper Squad, the Woodcut Process & the FU's plus special guest event compere, all the way from Wales, Roger Henderson, back at Feltstock for the first time since 2011.

After a great start from Roger, the Uke’s & the Woodcut Process it was time for the eagerly awaited appearance of festival fav’s, The Phantoms & the boys were soon powering through a fantastic set of tried & tested sure fire crowd pleasers. Even finding time for our bass player to deliver a few of his best jokes. Sorry about that! Notably during a cover of The Beatles ‘Twist & Shout’ the boys then enjoyed a percussive stage invasion, flanked on stage by a couple of lovelies on tambourine. Thanks Ann & Louisa. Pleasing. Highlight of the set was brand new song ‘She’s so Lovely’ by Scouting for Girls. An inspired choice by one of the crowd (Ange) who had previously requested we lean it. The boys then concluded their first of two slots on the Feltstock 2018 stage with another new one, a boisterous rendition of 70’s glam rock classic ‘Ballroom Blitz’ by the Sweet. “Are you ready Feltstock”? Yes as it turned out!

Chopper Squad then took over the reins allowing the Phantoms a well earnt breather (& a chance to raid the Woodcut Process’s cake tin)! Nice.

So onto the climax of the evening, and it certainly proved worth sticking around till the end as the hardy drunken party goers got the rare chance to front Felthams finest live rock band (‘the Phantoms & friends’). After the success of last years unplanned rockaoke finale to the festival, we decided to bring it back for Feltstock 2018, but this time with a bit more planning (by which I mean we printed out the words)! Although as it turned out, this didn’t really make a whole lot of difference as the very drunk wanabe pop stars unleashed their inner rock god during a shambolic but hugely enjoyable final hour!

Thanks to the organisers, thanks to all the bands & thanks to the crowd, especially those that got up on stage to join in the fun.

The Phantoms were: Mark Gibson (lead vocals & keys), Kevin Rogers (guitar), Jason Biggs (guitar & vocals), Jon Novice (bass & vocals), Alun Westoll (drums & vocals) with Louisa Wansborough & Ann Ford on percussion plus Sam Wansborough on Rockaoke keys AND A LOT OF YOU ON ROCKAOKE VOCALS!
