#86. The General Roy, Feltham. 1.12.17.

First (Ph)riday in December? Well it must be the Phantoms traditional start to Xmas at the General Roy. It's the Phantoms Rock & Roll Christmas! Ho ho ho!
With the band’s lead singer on walkabout for the entire run-up to this gig, thankfully he managed to return in the nick of time (if a little jet lagged), complete with Santa beard to deliver the Phantoms fun packed festive finale to 2018. Although he did need a little pre gig power nap to recharge the batteries.
As always, the lively General Roy crowd were well up for it. But unfortunately one of the band’s work colleagues was a little too up for it and was promptly invited to leave by the bar staff before the first chord was even struck. Doh.
The night then got underway, as soon as the Feltham Young Offenders Christmas Party had vacated the stage. The Officers, thankfully not the inmates! Then straight off the bat the Phantoms immediately launched into a string of sure fire crowd pleasers with ‘Sex on Fire’ finally getting the lively crowd on the dancefloor where they remained for the rest of the opening set. Brought to a close with festive fav, Santa Claus is Coming to Town. The Phantoms – they know if you’ve been bad or good!
Refreshed and recharged the band then cracked on with the second set, opening with the iconic 70’s classic ‘Mr Blue Sky’ by ELO. But it wasn’t long before the boys were back to the tried and tested territory of the 80’s and 90’s! Christmas had once again come early to the General Roy!
Back on the stage, beautifully decked out like Santa’s Grotto with tree & twinkly lights, half the band pulled on their Santa hats (as the rest had been lobbed into the crowd) for an encore packed full of sleigh bells and seasonal cheer. Merry Phantmas everyone!

The Phantoms were: Mark Gibson (lead vocals & keys), Kevin Rogers (guitar), Jason Biggs (guitar & vocals), Jon Novice (bass & vocals) & Alun Westoll (drums & vocals).
