#95. The General Roy, Feltham. 7.12.18.
First (Ph)riday in December? Well that'll be the Phantoms Rock & Roll Christmas at the Genaral Roy! Ho ho ho! It was an action packed night as the Phantoms kicked off the festive Season at the General Roy.
The bands xmas stocking was packed full of old favs, Christmas classics & a handful of great new covers which all went down especially well, particularly a rousing rendition of Wonderwall by Oasis.
I say they ALL went down well but during new song ‘Kids in America’ we faced our harshest critic to date when some japester pulled out the plug to the main PA. Lesson learnt there, don’t plug vital gear into a plug socket in the range of a drunken idiot!
Kris the barmaid was tempted off duty for five minutes to sing lead vocals on Does Your Mother Know by ABBA. Top work Kris.
Then passing punter Shannon got in on the act lending a hand on Twist & Shout. She obviously enjoyed it so much she came back for another go in the second half!
Thanks to all the local punters as well as the bands ever loyal following who sang & danced along all night. Special mention to the girls from the Shepperton Book Club for some great dancing at the back of the room.
The boys ended the night, as I imagine many live bands would have done if playing that evening, with a moving tribute to the recently departed lead singer of the Buzzcocks. Ever Fallen In Love (With Someone You Shouldn't've)?
So, Christmas has begun! Ho ho ho. x
