#82. The General Roy, Feltham. 2.12.16.

Pussy alert! The Phantoms kick of the (ph)estive season at the General Roy… Christmas climax to a fantastic 12 months as the band matched their most prolific year on record.
Although the prospects of the gig actually taking place didn’t look very good just hours before the kick off! With 40% of the band struggling with illness in the run up, the boys dug deep and like the true professionals that they are pulled out a great crowd pleasing performance to the General Roy massive.
Two sets packed full of ‘all killer, no filler’ covers had the crowd up and dancing all night long and with numerous requests forthcoming the band delivered both the rehearsed & unplanned songs with aplomb.
And at the end of the evening no-one was fooled when the band played Semisonic’s ‘Closing Time’ as it wouldn’t be Christmas at the Roy without a suitably festive finale. With Santa hats adorned and sleigh bells ringing out the Phantoms launched into the obligatory Christmas climax with some great renditions of seasonal favs and even had enough left in the tank for yet one more song, the not so festive ‘Heroes’ by David Bowie.
Huge thanks to all of you that came along to this and any of the bands other performances over the course of 2016. We really appreciate your continued support. Merry (Phant)mas and a happy new year to you all. You are all ‘Heroes’.

The Phantoms were: Mark Gibson (lead vocals & keys), Kevin Rogers (guitar), Jason Biggs (guitar & vocals), Jon Novice (bass & vocals) & Alun Westoll (drums & vocals).
