Private Party, Sandhurst.
The Phantoms go to the Ball.
The venue for the
evening was Sandhurst’s historic Old College Dining Room and
after the band had eventually worked out how to tie a bow tie
(OK, so some of them were clip on’s!) we took to the stage and
the diners away from the remains of their cheese plate and up
onto the dance floor. For the next few
hours the Phantoms (interspersed with a little help from the
disco) kept the troops in the party mood with the revelers
dancing late into the night. And even when it was time for the
Phantoms to finish their final set with a rousing rendition of
the Beatles ‘Twist & Shout’, there was still more entertainment
to come! The hard core were then treated to a fantastic end to
the evening (or early start to the morning!) when the bands
sound man (Sam Wansborough) found himself leading an impromptu
drunken sing along on the piano in the bar! Yes, we really did
manage an acoustic version of Bohemian Rhapsody!
A great night was had by all and after plenty of complimentary
comments from both party goers and the event organisers we may
even get to do it all again next year. Let’s hope so as it would
be nice to get some wear out of our brand new dickie bows! The
Phantoms had never looked so smart!
The Phantoms were: Mark Gibson (lead
vocals & keys), Kevin Rogers (guitar), Jason Biggs (guitar & vocals), Jon Novice (bass & vocals) & Alun Westoll (drums
